What this is

Your child is part of a small group of their tennis friends learning what AI actually is, and how to build with it, over six weeks this summer. It's self-paced and built entirely around tennis β€” every example, quiz, and project comes from the game they already love.

The course moves through three stages. First, foundations β€” what AI, machine learning, and large language models really are, and how to tell when they're wrong. Then power user β€” getting genuinely good at prompting ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Finally builder β€” using AI to design and ship a real tennis app they can show you. By the end of six weeks, your kid will have a real working web app β€” built with AI-assisted tools, shareable as a phone-friendly link.

The goal isn't to turn them into a programmer. It's to make them fluent and thoughtful with tools that will be part of the rest of their life β€” curious about how they work, and clear-eyed about what they can and can't do.

More than a homework shortcut

It's fair to wonder whether a course like this just teaches kids a slicker way to cut corners. It's built to do the opposite. A core thread running through all six weeks is using AI honestly and responsibly β€” knowing when it's the right tool and when it isn't, checking its work instead of trusting it blindly, and understanding that handing your thinking to a machine has a real cost.

A full lesson is devoted to what AI costs and what's fair β€” where AI gets things wrong, why original thinking is the one thing it can't replace, the line between using AI to understand and using it to skip the work, and even what it costs the planet. By the end, your kid writes their own fair-play code. The goal is a kid who reaches for AI thoughtfully β€” not one who leans on it to skip the learning.

Week 4

Create Mode

AI can make images, podcasts, and more. Learn the creative tools β€” and what fair, smart use looks like.

Week 5

Think Like a Founder

Pick it. Pitch it. Start building it. What problem are you solving, for who, and what's the value?

What keeps them coming back

Thirty minutes a day only sticks if it's fun. Every lesson rewards XP, builds a daily streak, and nudges up a playful, tennis-style Course UTR rating, with badges for milestones along the way.

And because they're going through it alongside their friends, they can compare progress on shared leaderboards and swap their best discoveries on message boards β€” a little friendly competition to keep the whole group serving.

Time commitment

30 minutes a day, four days a week, for six weeks. Each lesson is a short, clickable slide deck with quizzes and a weekly challenge.

Day 5 of each week is an optional bonus β€” extra practice or catch-up, never required. It's fully self-paced, so your kid can do their lesson whenever fits their day: before practice, after dinner, whenever.

AI subscription costs (optional): weeks 1–4 are completely free. Weeks 5–6 are free for basic builds; if your kid catches the bug and wants more capacity, Lovable is about $25 for one month β€” entirely optional.

How you can support your kid

  • Once a week, ask what they learned β€” and have them show you something they made.
  • Be patient when they're stuck. Getting unstuck is part of the lesson, not a sign it's going wrong.
